A Look at What's to Come: Neon Messiah and Malefic Deletor

Vanguard's two upcoming releases for the upcoming month of September in Japanese territories have been building up hype recently, and for good reason. Read on to find out why!

It appears that Vanguard's fourth season is getting close to reaching a very early climax, perhaps to easily accompany the anime's first ever animated movie: Neon Messiah. While the anime is still focuses on the remnants of the Star-vader tyrants that were in their prime back in the third season, the upcoming movie brings in Ibuki Kouji from the manga, along with his signature deck: Deletors.

The Movie Trial Deck: Malefic Deletor!

Deletors have also been branded to be part of Link Joker, marking the second supported archetype for the still relatively new clan. As their name implies, their deck strategy revolves on another unique mechanic called "Banish Delete". The only information about the mechanic comes from the manga, where it basically means that a unit is sent to the drop zone face down. It seems apparent that this is far from what all Deletors can do, as the only things that this mechanic could potentially impact are Granblue as a deck and Legion.

In fact, the latest movie trailer reveals that Delete could very well be more extensive than it seems, as a scene depicts various cards being wiped blank, potentially by the new mechanic.

What we can expect is another unique control deck similar to Link Joker, but with a short range of cards. As of now, we only know that Ibuki is confirmed for being the primary antagonist of the movie. We don't know if we'll see him later in Vanguard's saga or not, meaning the Deletors could fall short very quickly.

Deletor's exclusive Movie Trial Deck: Malefic Deletor, is set to be released in the middle of September, so expect to find out what the Delete mechanic does very soon! We can expect this new Trial Deck to be a bit higher in terms of power level due to Deletors potentially being a one shot deck, and the deck isn't going to get nearly as much support to their name as other decks have gotten. However, our information has been relatively hazy due to the releases still being a while away. For now, all we can do is speculate and wait.

The Movie Booster Set: Neon Messiah!

If you thought that Deletors are all that we're getting, you'd be mistaken! Bushiroad is also releasing a special set of cards at the same time as the Deletor Trial Deck to commemorate their new movie. Neon Messiah basically comes with the rest of the new cards that are set to be shown in the movie, but it's also speculated that it's going to feature the last cards of Vanguard's season four as well. This is because the episode that's set to be released on August 24th shows new cards that weren't included in Booster Set 17, meaning we might see some new and more powerful trump cards used in the conclusion of the second Link Joker arc!

The clans that are confirmed for support in this set are Royal Paladin, Gold Paladin, Kagero, and Link Joker, which heavily implies that Seekers, Liberators, Perdition, and Star-vaders are getting more specific support. We already know that Alfred is returning to the Royal Paladins after being wiped from existence, and that he also forms a Legion with Blaster Blade Seeker! While we don't know exactly what he does yet, hopefully he can usher out the overwhelming force of Seeker, Sing Saver Dragon decks out of the competitive scene.

We can also expect new boss units for Perdition and Liberators as well, with the possibility of Dragonic Overlord returning as well. There are a handful of cards already leaked from Card of the Days, but the big bosses are still hidden.

Blaster Blade Returns?!

On the subject of already revealed cards, this week has already perked many people's interests. Monday's card of the day was Star-vader, Brave Fang. If it boosts a unit while you're in Legion and the attack hits, you can slide him to the soul to choose up to two locked units and extend their locks for one turn. The card seems useful in just about every Star-vader Legion deck we have at our disposal, as it basically equates to two locks for no apparent counterblast costs, making it easy to fit in. However, what makes the card truly interesting is its lore, foreshadowing what we can expect near the end of the week.
This is the first of the "Berserked Emotion Type Duplicates", which was created by a certain commander of "Link Joker" from the memories of the captured hero, Blaster Blade.
Somewhere in the world, there is a warrior who always aids and be aided by his friends, who bears enormous courage in his tiny body, who has contributed to the salvation of the world. Nevertheless, the bestial duplicate of the warrior doesn't possess a mean to understand these wonderful memories.
Brave Fang is none other than the Link Joker version of Wingal, marking the beginning of an interesting slew of more Link Joker cards. This new collection is bound to be full of old Royal Paladins duplicated into a new collection of Star-vaders. To add on to that, things get even juicier with today's card of the day...

Silence Star-vader, Dilaton is the second duplicate revealed, and this one is a duplicate of our old friend Knight of Silence, Gallatin. He lost 1000 power this time around, but fortunately, that means he gets his own skill. When you call Dilaton to the field and your opponent has two or more locked cards, without any other costs, you can add a Star-vader, Blaster Joker from your deck to your hand.

Wait... what?

Though it was slightly predictable from Monday, it's pretty much confirmed that Blaster Blade has become a member of Link Joker. In the lore it was stated that Star-vader, Garnet Star Dragon managed to capture Blaster Blade from the Seeker army and imprison him. While imprisoned, an unknown character has been extracting his memories and creating new Link Joker duplicates based on those memories, as seen above. This card however, is more than likely the original Blaster Blade himself under Link Joker's control.

It's probable that Blaster Joker is a grade 2, since you're meant to search him with Dilaton when your grade 3 has locked two or more units, but what he does is still under question. He might extend locks like Brave Fang, or he might lock units himself. The only thing we can do is wait for him to be revealed sometime this week.

Brave Fang and Dilaton are very solid cards on their own, and their effects can help us speculate on the rest of the new cards in this set, but all we can do for now is wait. Pay more attention than usual for the three other Card of the Days this week, because chances are, they'll be related to this new formation of Link Joker.

We'll be covering more Neon Messiah news when it shows up, but for now, this is all we have. For now, feel free to leave comments below on what you think will show up! As always, thanks for reading.
